Read what the Michelin Guide has to say about Maizal!
To the Maya, Inca, and Aztec civilizations that existed almost 2,000 years ago, corn served as more than just the main form of sustenance—the precious golden crop was often used as currency, and in some circles even worshipped as a god. So when Leo Zelaya opened his Rosebank-based boutique restaurant in 2010, he was spiritually inspired by that staple of Mexican culture and cuisine.
Staten Island Advance
Service is unobtrusive, friendly and smooth. The staff is very knowledgeable of all ingredients, menu items and details of the restaurant. To me, those are indications that the workers have their hearts and souls in the establishment. In the case of Maizal, it makes for sincere service and overall fine attention to detail.
